Marty has been awful so far this season. Just the way it is. Keep starting Schneider until we dig our selves out of the ditch a little bit.

Any Devil fan who disagrees with Schneider getting the majority of the starts is in denial. The day had to come eventually...

he'll have to carry the load of having a terrible offense and a now mediocre defense... poor guy

I'd say you've got the offense and defense backwards

Agreed. And the offense should get better with more familiarity. The only way the defense gets better is an injury.

Why not right ? our last two captains (Parise and Salvador still captain) have a tendency to get leveled once a game he would fit that mold perfectly

I think RMDevil brought it up in the last thread, but its really bizarre that DeBoer is so willing to favor Cory over Marty, but has this weird blind allegiance to Gionta and Harrold, when players with actual upside could do their roles just fine. And have put the Devils in position to retain Urbom.

Harrold wouldn't make it on most teams, yet the Devils can't seem to part with him. He's a 6th defenseman and at his best what is he? A fifth D-man like Tommy Albelin?

I'm glad DeBoer is making the move, but its still strange to start now when a bit more could have been at stake earlier in the season.

Blue Jackets have been very good at home dating back to last year. Hopefully we can get a 2-1 or 3-2 victory there and come home to play the Canucks. Confirmed report that Elias did not make the trip to Columbus. Hopefully Elias will be good to go Thursday. Brunner sounds like he will play tomorrow. I liked Ryder at the point on the power play when he scored against the Rangers. I think he might be a better option then Zajac however, I don't think he would be able to skate back and play defense if we turn the puck over (which we will). I love Marty but the distraction of his fathers death (which I don't blame him) and age is catching up to him. This might be the final year. Whenever he starts enjoy every save he makes because it could be his last. Loved Henriques goal against the Rangers. Reminded me of the old NHL just take the puck over the blue line and blast it. Lets get the win tomorrow and come home Thursday motivated. LETS GO DEVILS!

Columbus hasn't exactly been the same team this season as the end of last season. NJ has a shot, though 1 win won't put me in a place where I say they got this. I still have no confidence in this team. It's like that chick you meet at the bar that rides you in the back of a yellowcab, but the next day her friend tells you she's married.

Schneider save% is .927 and Marty is .865 both playing 4 games each. Marty looks terrible. Even his saves he is making more difficult. Right now I am concern even starting him in the second half of the back to back.

most of us islanders fans feel the same way, we don't trust our team either. Lot of lazy backchecking and a really iffy defense combined with a terrible strategy of sit and watch the opponent cycle the puck right now look like it's going to be a long season. We have the forwards to play, but we keep getting stuck in our own end because Carkner, Strait and Andrew MacDonald keep softly throwing the puck up the boards or watching the opponent work the boards.

it's a weird year in the metro division, lot of teams struggling, one team goes on a roll here and they could steal a playoff position and be out of reach by the end of november.

5th in the league in shots against. Brodeur's swiss cheese play makes our defense looks bad, not the actual defending.

24th in Goals For... the number will be 28th or 29th by the end of the season. Rags look awful in that sector this year. Other teams low on the chart should find their offense... right Sabres? Flyers?

What has Gionta done to not deserve to play? He has been playing great the last few games.
